I Can’t Feel My Legs!

In honor of my aching body, I present to you, Numb by U2, “sung” by The Edge.  In addition, it is one of the most erotic songs I know–the video, not so much.  I have no idea why it gets me so hot, but whatever.

My mom is visiting.  Thus, I have been cleaning like a madwoman.  I am, shall we say, lax in my cleaning habits–ok, I’m a slob.  I let it go and let it go, and then I go crazy cleaning.  Remember, I am recovering from an upper-respiratory infection.  Doing massive cleaning doesn’t help.  Nor, apparently, does it make the cats very happy.

In addition, cleaning is wasteful.  I did four loads of laundry which is a huge waste of water as well as of electricity.  I cleaned the air filters (water again).  I cleaned all the bathrooms (more water wasted), the kitchen (ditto the water thing), the cats’ water fountain (more wasted water), and vacuumed the whole damn house (electricity).  I still have to mop the floor (water).  That’s a lot of waste right there.

I do have to admit, however, that it’s nice to have a clean house.  Every time I clean, I vow that I will do it more regularly (thus, making it an easier job each time), but I know myself too well.  I won’t do it.

The other reason I don’t like to clean is because no matter how clean I get the house, there will always be CRUMBS!  I don’t want to make my coffee because the grounds might get on MY CLEAN COUNTER.  If I had lived in the fifties, I would have been Donna Reed popping valium every day because my man just couldn’t help tracking mud on MY SHINING FLOOR.

This is my main gripe about cleaning–there is no end point.  Once you do it, you can’t even enjoy it because it’s never totally clean.  And, if you really want to keep up with it, you have to do it every day.  Repeatedly.  Over and over.  Ad nauseam.  What is the damn point?  There really isn’t one.  Therefore, I will probably keep to my schedule of cleaning only when I absolutely can’t stand it any more.  At least I can rationalize that I’m being kind to the environment.

Why am I posting this?  Dunno.  Felt like it.
